...about chartering or buying a Private Jet

To experience first hand the benefits that a private jet can bring you over commercial travel (see " Advantages of flying private" ), you probably have some questions you need to ask. The most common ones, we have already answered for you here:

to Charter a private jet, How much does it cost?

Given the price of private jet charters, the benefits and the potential of empty legs, private jets are not longer for the ultra rich and C-Suite business executives. On the internet you will find estimated prices, but please note that in the USA prices are lower than elsewhere.

Thereby, most given prices are the (fuel) costs per hour when you own a jet yourself (thus without a pilot, airfield fees, taxes etc).

It is never possible to give you just an amount about private jet charter. First you need to know what is your budget, where are you going to and with how many, do you have extra luggage, do you need a bed to lay on (f.e. for health reasons) and do you have a specific route in mind.

By the way, the older a private jet, the cheaper it is to fly with.

With this on paper, we are able to choose the right jet.

But we always start with the first 4 and most important questions:

1. from where to where

2. how many persons

3. when / date

4. retour or single way

Generally, we can give you this indication about how much a jet could cost per hour filght [empty legs excluded!] ;

Light jet      (4 to 6 passengers):     $  4,000    to $ 5,500     |  €3400 to € 4700

Medium jet (6 to 9 passengers):      $  5,500    to $ 9,500     |  €4700 to € 8000

Heavy jet    (16 to 19 passengers):  $11,000   to $20,000    |  €9300 to €17000

How far in advance do I need to book?

When you give us as much notice as possible when booking a private flight, then this will give us more availability and time to search for the right jet. That means better value and lower-priced private jet. However, 75% of all chartered flights are booked within 2 weeks of departure. These clients only have a handful of options.
When you need a flight at extremely short notice, then most airports need 4 hours to inform the operator, get the crew and plane ready and call the pilots.

To accommodate such short notice requests, you may have to select a higher-priced plane or an older jet.

How do I get to my private plane?

If you do not know the airport, we will tell you how to get there. You can come to the airport by yourself, or let a family member or friend take you to it. Or, with our Concierge Services, we can arrange the ground transportation for you. Even a private chauffeur and a luxury car. For large  groups, we can arrange a bus or van.

For other options, please E-mail us. Or contact us by using WhatsApp or its contact button on this page.

Can I change my mind on the destination or extend my trip?

Private jet charter flights are very flexible, and it is possible to change timings, destinations or passenger numbers after a flight booked, but in some cases this may incur an additional charge.

Are pets allowed on the plane?

Yes! We arrange pet friendly charter flights, so you and your furry friend can travel in comfort.

This way you avoid the risks, stress, and inconvenience of flying commercially with your companions. Another good news is, you can travel anytime of the year and with no maximum of pets.
Internationally, countries have different guidelines regarding traveling with pets. We can always assist you with this and arrange whatever is needed (documents, guidelines), enabling you and your pet to reach the destination together, safely and happily.

A few tips:

• Bring along creature comforts to give your pet a sense of home and to help her feel comfortable while in the air.

• Let the aircraft operator know you will be traveling with pets.

• Avoid tranquilizers as they can increase the chances of heart and respiratory problems.

• Feed your pet 5 hours or more before the flight to avoid tummy distress and motion sickness.

• Always have fresh water on hand.

Do I need specific insurance?

When you travel by private jet, you have operator insurance. That means that you and your companions are insured during the flight, but not your jewels and other precious possessions. It is all standard.

What are Empty Legs?

Booking an empty leg flight is WIN/WIN scenario! Empty legs are a cost-effective method of chartering a private jet.

These flights can be sold for up to 75% off the original price.

An empty leg, is an empty flight in which the return portion of a charter flight can be booked. A comparison can be made when a limo returns to its home location after a drop off.

Empty legs offer time, cost, and peace of mind to passengers booking these flights. During an empty leg the luxury travel experience remains untouched, offering the same quality as a regular charter. The world of Private Jets, offers the ultimate experience in style, comfort and luxury.

We always have access to every empty leg available. We will always make you the best offer possible.

We take great care to get to know each and every client, allowing us to create bespoke itineraries within a seamless 'Jolie' experience.

Does food taste differently high in the sky?

Altitude affects the way we perceive the taste of food and beverages. Sorry ladies but in particular the wine. And don't forget the bubbles in champagne.

Lower air pressure reduces your blood’s oxygen saturation, which in turn reduces the effectiveness of your smell receptors and thus some of your taste perception. Consequently, food and wine taste like they do when you have a cold.

Are you looking forward to enjoying a seamless flight experience?

Well, food is no exception, as private jet charters tail catering on board a private jet to the tiniest of details. Catering on board a private jet is somewhat complex as chefs have to cater to a wide range of airlines and specific orders worldwide. Your ability to taste salt is reduced by as much as 30 percent and your ability to taste sugar falls by as much as 20 percent. Both flavor perceptions are aroma based. Meanwhile, your perceptions of bitter and sour tastes remain relatively stable.

How to prevent a Jet Lag?

'A good laugh and a long sleep are the best 2 cures for anything', they say.

Not every private jet has room for a bed. What to do before, during and after your flight to reduce the chance for a jet lag.

Jet leg generally happens when a person travels east or west across 3 or more time zones.

For example, if you fly from Los Angeles to New York and arrive at 8 p.m., your body might still operate as if it’s in L.A. at 5 p.m.

This jet lag can cause you to stay up later than you’d like, sleep at odd hours, or feel more tired than usual. You may also experience stomach problems, problems with attention or memory, even mood disorders. Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, jet lag can negatively impact your trip.

Some tips to prevent or reduce jetlag?

- Before traveling, you can schedule the first days of your trip, to help your body adjust to its new daily rhythm. You can do this by taking 30min. naps and timed periods of both daylight and darkness.

- Minimize travel stress

- During flight, stay hydrated - drink enough water.  Limit alcohol and caffeine.

- Eat smart: Reduce the risk of digestive problems by eating healthy and light.

-  Walking, standing, and gently stretching a few times during the flight.

- After arrival: Find time for a walk or other light physical activity. It will help recalibrate your circadian rhythm.

Some people say older (reupholstered) jets are unsafe and too expensive. Is this really true?

Regularly scheduled aircraft maintenance is an essential component to maintaining the airworthiness of any aircraft.

Unlike a car where maintenance is optional, every jet has a specific maintenance timeline— when inspections must be completed— that are outlined by a combination of governing groups.

These groups include the Maintenance Review Board, aircraft manufacturer, and FAA; and exist to ensure that maintenance standards are implemented for overall aviation safety.

Without the required maintenance, an aircraft is legally “grounded” or unable to fly.

So if you think an older private jet is not safe to fly with, you are wrong. In fact, to lease and to charter is also much cheaper.

For (share) ownership the same principle applies. For example to share the ownership of a Cessna 501 Citation 1 (1977), we can offer you this for 16k euro's a year. That means for only 16k per year, a fixed amount, it is yours whenever you need it. Maintenance included. Fuel and staff excluded.

Buy a private jet

The right time to buy a private jet is largely dependent on your personal or business’s financial situation and annual flying hours.

Then you can choose between new and pre-owned private jets.

After purchase, there’s the cost of ongoing management (starting from €450k each year) : hangar, insurance, pilot/crew, maintenance and repair costs.

You can also decide to take part in a shared ownership programs.

With such a programm, you pay a certain amount (say, f.e. €150k each year) which allows you to make use of the jet whenever you choose and for a certain times per month or per year. That all depends on the programm.

Thanks to our extensive network, Jolie Jets can guide you to a number of jet owners and companies, who offer these possibilities.
